"Why are you even here?"
I say this to students more than I would like. It just comes out in exasperation. No, I’m not genuinely interested in why they’ve chosen to come to school. Honestly, it just a really poorly disguised way of me pointing to the door.
I feel that all children should get an education. But especially in a high school, there’s something utterly exhausting about spending so much time...

When people say “I don’t censor myself with PC stuff because I’m real“ to justify themselves being a total asshole to someone for no reason.
I remember hoping at one point that these kinds of justifications for just being cruel would fade out with age, but unfortunately, they don’t seem to. People still tell me these kinds of things, like “I’m just...

Kid wearing a Batman shirt: *standing in the middle of the aisle and sees me, places his fists on his hips and looks at me* Batwoman.
Me, also wearing a Batman shirt: Batman.
Kid: Are you keeping Gotham safe?
Me: Yes. Have you captured the Joker?
Kid: Not yet, but soon. Keep up the good work. *he spins around quickly and runs the other direction*

there are thousands of brilliantly written novel-length stories kids wrote from their own brains about characters and shows/books/movies they love all twined into the internet and other kids read these 50k+ stories in their own time and invest themselves in it
nobody’s being paid to write it and nobody’s being told to read it,...

To Pass or Not to Pass? The End-of-Year Moral... →
Now, as the grades are totaled in June, I wonder: Do I hold her accountable for work left incomplete? Can she be exempted from the assignments that all her classmates completed? What is the minimum number of assignments that are the most important to determining student performance? If I exempt her from less important assignments, am I reinforcing her lack of responsibility? Finally, is passing...

the scariest part about hipster blogs is they rarely have text posts
it’s like the blogger isn’t even alive
they’re just a soulless vessel fueled only by pictures of coffee and trendy clothes
It’s for reasons like this that I am infinitely disappointed when I see an attractive person on Tumblr, visit their blog, and only find pictures of the beach, shoes, and white girls...

“At some point in recent American history, we started assuming that if people are rich enough, they must be experts in all things. That’s why we trust Mark Zuckerberg to save Newark schools and Bill Gates to rid the world of malaria. Expertise is so 20th century.”

So I'm on Omegle, and I tried both the "Tumblr"...
If they put in these filters, they also need to put in an 18+ or 21+ filter.
Because I did not come on the internet to talk to 15-year-olds about how:
College is more fun than high school, and
High school sometimes sucks, and
Yes, I’m part black, and
No, black jokes aren’t funny as opening lines, and
I don’t hate Justin Bieber, and
No, I don’t think your friend...
There’s a stereotype that black people are lazy. I don’t know if that’s true,...

Besides that, though I think the intensity leading up to this finale was maybe a little more than the writers could handle. Because this finale was sort of meh.
I just watched Legend of Korra and it’s such a kid show.

I sort of assume that they’re looking for specific people to talk to them, meaning not me (or any other random person they’ve never talked to/aren’t attracted to).
People should clarify. Because I would take those invitations if I wasn’t worried that people are going to think I’m a creeper.

5. Do I have to turn in lesson plans? No, all you need are pacing plans. And they can be as general as “Weeks 1-3 we’re covering this topic.” Oh, what you have is plenty detailed.
4. Can I take classes outside? Of course! Just let the office know where you are.
